What I've been eating lately

Here's a sampling of what I've been eating lately:

Kale, salmon, and German bread:

This was an easy-peasy dinner I recently made. Kale is officially my fave green. I can eat it every day for the rest of my life and be happy.

Twizzlers:

This used to be one of my fave candies as a child. I recently went to the movies and ordered some popcorn. They offered me any candy for $2 and I couldn't refuse.

Green Tea:

I drink a lot of green tea but have never seen a fancy tea bag like this one.

Strawberry and almond salad:

I first ate this at my local gelato shop and tried to make it myself. I love the sweetness of the strawberries and the crunch of the sliced almonds. So yum!

Beet salad:

This is fast becoming a favorite. I love beets and spinach so this is a perfect match made in salad heaven!

What about you? What have you been grubbing or sipping lately?

NOTD: Revlon's Violet

Here are the first things that come to my mind when I hear the word purple:

1. Barney

2. Prince

3. Prince

I'm going to add the beauty that is Revlon's Violet to that list. I mean, it is a purple nail polish and I need to associate more things to the word purple than Prince! LOL.
I recently scooped up Violet on clearance from Target for about one buck. Lord, Jesus, it's such a pretty color!!
Here, take a peek:

Sally Hansen's Hi Def is on my ring finger. Don't you love this color combo!?

This isn't a royal purple like Brash's Toxic purple. Violet is more of a fluorescent purple with teeny, tiny shimmers. That's OK, though. Its beauty is still evident.
As always, I applied three coats to make the color POP!
Wore this baby for several days because I couldn't stop looking at my nails!

Here's Violet with a coat of Essie's Shine of the Times:

And here she is with a coat of Sally Hansen's DVD:

A Poem in Polish: Why I like spring

What do I like about spring?
O my, there are so many things!

I like the pretty pink flowers...

...and purple ones too!
I like the bright blue skies...

...such a pretty hue!
I also like the smell of freshly cut grass...

...and the rain that makes it grow so fast.
I like the soft, yellow sun...

...and its beautiful glow.
I like Easter and Peeps and peaceful, pastel tones...

...but on second thought, all the rain might be a bummer.
But hey, at least spring is a prelude to summer!

(Polishes used: Hard Candy's Sky Blue, SinfulColors' Cinderella, Revlon's Posh, Sally Hansen's Mellow Yellow and SinfulColors' Mint Apple.)

Random experiences with beauty products

Hi there,

Hope you're week's going well!
As random as this may sound, I wanted to write a post about my random experiences with beauty products because there are things that I do regarding my make-up collection that I never really noticed that I did until I actually noticed that I did these things.
That make sense to you? It didn't to me neither, lol.
Well, here's my list of random beauty stuffs:

-Sometimes, I like to wear nothing but eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss because I feel like I need to let my face air out and rest from shadow and blush.

-I apply sunscreen before I apply my precious Josie MaranArgan Oil solid moisturizer because it adds that extra layer of moisturization that my dry skin needs and loves.

-I wear a face mask at least three times a week.

-My most-worn and favorite eye shadows are shimmery plums and metallic browns.

-After I'm done with my mascaras, I cut off the brushes, sterilize them and then recycle them into spoolies so I can declump my mascara. Read about that in a magazine!

-If there's a beauty product that I'm almost done with, I'll put it on my bathroom sink and use it up until it's gone.

-I've been using my lip liners as a base for my lipstick and it's been helping my lipstick last longer. Learned this from a MAC make-up artist at a fashion show.

-I've never been successful at applying nail stampers. I've gently rubbed the stampers with nail files but still, no go. Dunno what I'm doing or not doing but those silly nail stampers never seem to work for me:(.

My favorite nail polishes part two!

I haven’t been buying a lot of nail polishes lately (OK, I've bought a couple of new bottles:) and have really been enjoying the ones in my now 125 collection.
Last July, I wrote about the polishes that have a special place in my heart.
Well, I’ve fallen in love with so many other polishes that I’ve decided to do a another fave polish post! Yay!
And these polishes are in no particular order, just ones I've grown smitten with:)

-Revlon's Wind Fall:
This is a half moon mani featuring Wind Fall and Sally Hansen's Commander in Chic.

-Essie Shine of the Times:

This polish is just...words can't describe how dope this flakie is! It's so multidimensional and makes any polish sprightly.

-Maybelline's Grey-T-Glamour:

Gray is one of my least favorite colors but this polish has made me see gray in another light.

-N.Y.C.'s Fuchsia Shock:
N.Y.C.'s Fuchsia Shock is on my pointer. This is one of my fave pinks because it's so bright and pretty!

-Brash's Toxic Purple:

Purple is usually a regal color and this totally fits the bill.

-Sally Hansen's Gunmetal:

This color has always been so edgy to me.

-Hello Kitty's Blueberry:

I'm a sucker for a nice periwinkle and this one is bright, creamy and from Hello Kitty. Can't go wrong here!

What's on your tips and toes? What colors are you currently loving?

Products I've recently used up

Nothing excites me more than using every last drop of a cosmetic product that I bought with my hard-earned money!
You can make fun of me all you want to for cutting up my lotion bottles but me no care! I'm getting my money's worth and not wasting product.
When I finish a product, I toss it in a bag before recycling the bottle or container. Over the past three to four months, this is what I've used up:

Here are the lip products:

And the shower gels & body sprays:

And the body creams:

And the face moisturizers & perfumes:

Eye products:

And the nail stuff; can't forget the nail products:

This is a lot of product!
Stuff I'll re-buy: include the Josie Maran Argan Oil moisturizers, the Caramex lip balm, the e. Booth body creams and the Posche topcoat.

What about you, what products have you used up recently? And what will you re-buy?

FTC Disclosure: I bought these products with my own money.

NOTD: Revlon's Posh

Revlon recently revamped their entire core collection of polishes and I'm loving the results!
Posh is just one of the many lacquers from the collection and let me tell you, she's a beauty!
Posh is a regular ole' primary green that set me back a measly $5.
Take a peek at Posh on my nails:

She's beautiful and reminds me of spring. And she's kind of girly. That's why I keep referring to Posh as "her" and "she," lol.

And here she is with a coat of the lovely that is Essie's Shine of the Times:

And here she is with a coat of Forever 21's Light Green:

This color combination makes me want to go all Flavor Flav on you....Yeah booooooyyyy!!!!! (Um, now that I think of it, maybe Flavor Flav isn't the right person to reference! LOL!)

This color is very refreshing, flattering and sprightly (loving that word!).
The formula on this lacquer was perfect. It wasn't too thick or too thin.
Posh applied like a dream in two coats but I did three so that the color can really POP!
I wore Posh for five days straight and had very little chippage.
My only complaint about Posh was that it stained when I removed it.
But I can let that disadvantage pass because the price, formula and color make up for it.

What do you think of Posh? What's on your tips and toes these days?

Weekend Beauty Haul

Happy Monday!

I went shopping this week and here's what I got:

Sephora had their Chic Week and was offering V.I.B. members 15% off their purchase so I picked up a bottle of purity's facial cleanser and Lavanilla's deodorant:

I also scooped up some samples because you can't go in Sephora and NOT get any samples. The Sephora ladies also gave me a bag of Nars goodies including a primer, bronzer and illuminator. Yay!

I also went slightly crazy in CVS. I received my $3 Rewards bucks and had a 20% off coupon so I barely spent anything:

I bought Burt's Bees' lemon cuticle cream and hand cream, Essie's Trophy Wife, Revlon's Coastal Surf, Orly's rubberized base coat, and Revlon Colorburst lip butters in Lollipop and Raspberry Pie.

Expect swatches and reviews soon, and have a great week!

3. These burgundy stockings that I bought from NY&Company (forgot how much I paid for them):

4. These brown riding boots that Santa bought me for $200:

5. This cream chunky knit sweater that I got from the thrift store for about $5:
